PSC Handbook 2019

Awarmwelcome to fellow clubmembers 2018 was an eventful year and a milestone for the club, with the upgrade of our clubhouse – a culmination of many years of imagination, planning and effort for which I applaud our member’s patience and co-operation. We look forward to the future, and we look towards further improvements to our facilities. Portchester Sailing Club, with its broad base of interests including, dinghy sailing and racing, cruising, angling, kayaking, R.C. model boat racing, and varied social activities, is undoubtedly one of the best in Portsmouth harbour. Whatever your interest, you will never have to look far to find the community help and assistance you need. We are at our heart a self-help organization. Our community spirit is strong, achieved by giving our time to help others to make our club stronger. We do this by volunteering to sit on committees, or by taking part in work duties which can be done in a variety of ways to suit the individual. It is by donating our time that costs are kept down, so that we can enjoy our chosen pastime in one of the most beautiful corners of the Solent…all at an affordable cost. If you need guidance or help with any activities or queries, you will find contact details of your fellow volunteer members towards the back of this booklet; together with the club calendar and other useful information. In addition, during the coming season we are planning regular ‘meet the club’ evenings to give an opportunity for members to discuss any issues or ideas with their fellow club officers. As your new Commodore I am looking forward to a great season in 2019, and I am also looking forward to seeing you all at The Club. Christiaan Beech Commodore PAGE 2
